Big Star's Radio City, their second album, now reissued on vinyl, is a great example at why the band has such an enduring influence and brilliance. With Alex Chilton taking the lead, the album opens with the electrifying 'O My Soul,' a track that's both insanely catchy and raw in its production. 'Life Is White' follows, bringing a super poppy sound that continues the record's vibrant energy. The guitar work on 'Way Out West' is impressively twangy, adding depth to the album. The band slows down for the beautiful ballad 'What's Going Ahn' showing their versatility. Chilton's vocals shine on 'You Get What You Deserve,' a track with a chorus that's as memorable as any Beatles classic. Side-1 closes with 'Mod Lang,' a '70s hit with its garage sound. Side-2 kicks off with 'Back Of A Car,' reminiscent of their debut Number 1 Record, with stellar vocals and guitar work. The album maintains its momentum with 'Daisy Glaze' and the standout 'She's A Mover.' The highlight for some, 'September Gurls,' acts as a cornerstone of modern rock and power pop. Radio City is a milestone in rock music, blending fantastic vocals and some of the best guitar work imaginable.
